One of England’s Most Perfect Remaining Castles!!!

Raymond Singleton-McGuire reports on the incredible setting to host the ‘Billy Ocean/Heather Small’ concert in Lincoln Castle’s grounds.  We estimated about 3,500 people attended the concert although we were told the figure was closer to 5,000.  It was a great evening in an historic location steeped in history.

Raymond Singleton-McGuire reports; William the Conqueror built Lincoln Castle on the old pre-existing site of a Roman fortress.  It is unique being one of only two castles in the country which had two moats and also being on the top of a hill.  You are also able to walk around the perimeter of the wall which gives excellent views of the city, Lincoln Cathedral and the surrounding area and countryside.

Raymond Singleton-McGuire reports; it has been extended extensively over a period of time from its original timber structure which of course is now replaced with stone.  In recent years it has now become the secure home of the Magna Carta, one of only four in the world and most recently was used as a film location for many productions but most notably, ITV’s television series; Downton Abbey.
