Raymond Singleton-McGuire states; What An Unexpected Gem!! Could have been in the Norfolk Broads!!
Raymond Singleton-McGuire states; Lovely location; warm, welcoming and a friendly greeting.
Raymond Singleton-McGuire comments; Sunday Lunch is currently served at the tables in the Ground Floor Bar area which can be a little noisy until around 2.00pm when the ambience is a little quieter. We received lots of attention throughout our meal whilst the food was hot and tasty and very well presented.
Raymond Singleton-McGuire states; there is a restaurant area on the First Floor, but this was not open on the day we visited.
Raymond Singleton-McGuire states; the surrounding iridescent waterways, marina and wildlife set The Ship Inn’s location leagues apart from other establishments in the area. A nice welcomed and refreshing walk after the meal along the banks passing the lock gates to the ‘clapperboard’ riverside chalets was very enjoyable. Everyone you pass whilst walking, appears friendly and says hello!
Raymond Singleton-McGuire states; it is a remarkable location for an enjoyable meal situated only a few minutes from either Spalding or Boston in Lincolnshire.
Raymond Singleton-McGuire states; whilst the younger serving staff members could have done with a little extra guidance and training, everyone was really helpful and I can highly recommend The Ship Inn.
Raymond Singleton-McGuire States This is the Best Little Eatery In Town!!!!
Raymond Singleton-McGuire visited the Kitchenetta and reports it is well frequented by the locals, which is always a good sign!
Raymond Singleton-McGuire states; clean and well-presented little deli. Wide range of excellent coffees and a superb range of snacks, baguettes, etc.
Raymond Singleton-McGuire found the staff are friendly. Food is delivered promptly, not to mention very tasty!
Raymond Singleton-McGuire reports he can highly recommend this place if you ever visit Woodhall Spa.
Raymond Singleton-McGuire states; First Time Meal!! (10 out of 10!!!)
Raymond Singleton-McGuire comments; Where do I start? Just to say you will not be disappointed. Believe me when I say the place is like a Dr Who ‘tardis’. From the outside, it looks very small. All the gardens are neat and tidy and the building is in good condition and well presented. The bar area is well proportioned with the adjoining restaurant supporting attractive wall art and tapestries together with its rustic stonework allows for an inviting and comfortable ambience.
Raymond Singleton-McGuire states; As for the food; the vegetables are perfectly cooked (not overdone) and you can actually taste the freshness. The Roast Beef for Sunday Lunch just melts in your mouth and the Roast Cod topped with bacon was apparently ‘out of this world’. The sauces are again very deserving with the palette.
Raymond Singleton-McGuire states; This was our first time visiting The Bustard Inn and definitely not our last and we have already invited friends to join us next time.
Raymond Singleton-McGuire states; I promise you this is better than your average pub restaurant …. in fact far better by comparison to a number of top-notch restaurants we have eaten in. Whilst a little off the beaten track, The Bustard Inn settles nicely into its quaint (horseback riding!) stone built surroundings.
Raymond Singleton-McGuire states; loaded with history from royalty to the HQ for 617 Squadron in World War II and Officers Mess. Not to mention the gardens, woodlands, the Temple, lakes and ambiance of such a beautiful setting in the centre of Lincolnshire.
Raymond Singleton-McGuire comments; what could be a better setting for a wedding having got engaged one year previously, to get married one year later with facilities for helicopter landing, civil wedding ceremony at The Temple with the Petwood providing a back-up in a Licensed Garden Room (should we have encountered adverse weather!) which was quickly transformed back into a private room for the Wedding Breakfast!! A wedding breakfast, which was supposed to finish at 10.30 pm and eventually finished at 4.00 am!
Raymond Singleton-McGuire states; Janet Lee, General Manager of the Petwood Hotel will go that extra mile (or two!) to provide a service, be your host, toastmaster, organiser and wedding planner. Your every requirement will be catered for.
Raymond Singleton-McGuire comments by saying; ‘really pushed the boat out’ in no way compares to how the Petwood Hotel looked after us and I can only say one big thank you to everyone from the chef, all kitchen staff, waiters and waitresses, Reception and grounds staff and housekeeping.
Raymond Singleton-McGuire states; if you ever visit the Petwood and share the same experience and service with which we were blessed, you will not be disappointed.
